Fête Américaine

Tonight we learned what the French really think of Americans.  From time to time the cafeteria has themed dinners, and tonight was the "Fete Americaine," complete with several plastic machine guns and cowboy hats.  They wrapped two balloons with white sheets,  drew faces on them, and placed handkerchiefs and cowboy hats on the bottom and top.  The effect was sort of like a Western combined with 'Chucky.'  We were served French hot dogs and cheeseburgers, as well as the French interpretation of BBQ ribs... not too shabby, surprisingly.  They also had a GREAT corn chowder.  At the end of the table they placed three large bowls of popcorn (sans butter, of course: the French don't understand that concept at ALL).  They also gave us Coke, which I was pumped about, and German beer (the American theme can only extend so far).  All the workers were dressed in jeans, Western vests, and cowboy hats.

After about 2 minutes of eating, they began blasting "Cotton-Eyed Joe."
